Parris: "Abigail, i have fought here three long years to bend these stiff-necked people to me, and now, just now when some good respect is rising for me in the parish, you compromise my very character" (pg11)
Level Question:
why were Abigail and Betty in forest knowing that its forbid to be there?
Betty was accompanying Abigail in her intent to do witchcraft in order to kill Goody Proctor. I believe that since most people avoid the forest because it is "unholy", it was a good place for them to do those practices which are considered absolutely inappropriate to the society they live in. They probably thought no one would ever see them there which means they wouldn't get in trouble for their doings.
